Your itinerary in Slovakia

Day 1

Day 1: Arrival, welcome in Slovakia

Arrival to Slovakia: Country is easily accessible whether by plane, train, or bus. Country airports are located in Bratislava and Košice, but Vienna, Budapest even Prague and Krakow are the closest international airports

Day 2

Day 2: Bratislava city, capital of Slovakia

Morning + day program. A choice of:

Sightseeing: the most interesting spots in Bratislava. Historical and contemporary context of Bratislava & Slovakia
Bratislava castle tour: Celtic heritage, border of Barbaricum in roman times, Slavic heritage
Slavín 2nd World war memorial: historical story telling & view point for the town
In the afternoon we can continue with a program in Bratislava or we can organize a tailor-made wine tasting event
Devín castle ruins – nice view for 2 rivers, Danube & Morava. Amber road heritage, Slavic heritage, Iron curtain – communist era. Walking in the castle area (nature & history, this is also an afternoon option)

Afternoon option A:

Wine tasting tour in Small Carpathian region near Bratislava

We will choose to meet 2 to 5 small local winemakers in authentic historical and contemporary wine cellars & expositions.
Wine tasting and discourses about wine in each place. Did you know that we grow more than 100 varieties of wine in Slovakia?
We will also visit the local vineyards in nature, so you can get an authentic feeling about countryside connected to viniculture.
Wine tasting in any cellar is guided by the winemaker himself. You will get between 5–8 samples of wine and normally also a local snacks.
We will definitely do our best for you, because we know many excellent local winemakers and the atmosphere of places worth to visit.

Afternoon option B:

Dinner with a local winemaker in Rennaissance house

A dinner and wine tasting with the professional local winemaker in a Rennaissance house with cozy courtyard & old wine cellar located in the national monument & architectural reserve in Bratislava region. Definitely a memorable experience.
Duration: 3 + hours

Day 3

Day 3: Explore Danube wilderness

Bratislava region (full day activity)
Explore Danube wilderness: Kayak or canoe water adventure in a protected landscape area „Dunajské luhy“
Traditional & local restaurant „Csárda“, traditional food, local fish dishes
Free evening in Bratislava, Local life

Day 4

Day 4: Road trip

A transfer from Bratislava to Banská Štiavnica UNESCO with a full day program

Day 5: Banská Štiavnica UNESCO – A jewel inside the volcano

A mixture of:

Historical town sightseeing (enjoyable walking, caffe stops, many picturesque view points, special atmosphere)
Calvary hill walking / hiking
Mining & forestry academy & botanical garden (enjoyable walking)
Visit to the „Old castle“ or „New castle“
Love bank: a world unique exposition with a historical love story (great for couples)
Hiking to unique man made historical lakes „Tajchy“
A hike in town surroundings
Free time: you must have your own free time during the day to enjoy the place!!

Morning program:
Historic mine excursion

Historical 700 hundred years old gold–silver mine excursion
Discover the underground and the legendary mines (adventure, excursion)

Afternoon program: Wines from volcano

Wine tasting in „Stará Hora Sebechleby“. A national folk architecture reserve surrounded by nature, vineyards & forests. Location is situated on the hills of the old volcano. Wine tasting event inside of the carved wine caves into volcanic tuff. Very extraordinary & unique. Highly recommended.

Day 7

Road trip

A transfer from Banská Štiavnica to High Tatra mountains with a full day program

A full day program on the way, the choice of:

Hronsek wooden church UNESCO
Vlkolínec traditional village UNESCO
Majestic Orava castle
Fujara national instrument demonstration UNESCO
„Salaš“: visit to a shepherd´s house in nature with traditional food / drink tasting

Day 8

Day 8: High Tatra National park:

A full day in High Tatra mountains
Hiking to Téry mountain hut with altitude 2000 meters (Téryho chata)
Beautiful full day hiking with a waterfall stop on the way
On our hike we will visit 2–3 mountain huts for food / drink refreshment

Day 9

Dobšinská ľadová jaskyňa

Morning program: Ice cave UNESCO

Visit to the spectacular ice cave located within the Slovak paradise national park. One of the largest ice caves in Europe. At some parts the ice thickness reaches up to 25 meters. Ice cave is situated lower than its entrance so the cold air maintains in its bottom and its temperature never increases above zero.
